Can the 4 hole xbox 360 slim fan be used in a xbox 360 e console?

I would say is similar to the 360 Slim design. This helps reduce the risk of RROD and by also placing it in a space which offers enough space for the console and for it to breath (storage conditions where the console gets enough ventilation in a room). Manufacturers
do advise on how to store your appliances, usually in the instruction manual which not many people read.

The best XBOX 360 Revision ist the Corona Version build in the older XBOX 360 Slim, not the E Version. That Mainboard was build in the last XBOX 360 Slim and the first XBOX 360 E.

The XBOX 360 E has not all Ports like USB or the Video Ports as the older Slim Version. But the older Slim Version has the same Mainboard Base.

I've had an Xbox 360 Slim for 3 years and no overheating problems. Make sure you store the console in an area where it gets enough ventilation and maybe open the windows in the room too. Slim uses a different and improved design compared to previous models.
It has 1 big internal fan and a good ventilation design compared to 2 smaller fans with tiny pen-punched ventilation holes from previous models.
