Can someone help me repair a xbox one disc drive and motherboard?

I have an Xbox that i got off of ebay that said the disc drive was mismatched. It said that they had previously attempted to repair the disc drive but did not swap the daughterboard. I don't want to go poking around in the console in fear that i might damage something. The console boots and runs however i cannot update it or else it will break the os. I also cannot run my game discs. So if there is a way that i can somehow repair them, (i was looking online and someone said that microsoft can provide a offline system update with new keys to pair them), without opening up the console that would be great.

I have a Xbox One X, model 1787.

As zTOPNOTCHz already stated, it might be that the console Firmware is out of date, or doesn't match.

In order to protect the games from piracy and modding, Xbox changed the encryption format of the disc and sent out a firmware update that changed the system firmware as well as the drive firmware.

In a Xbox 360 console, the optical drive and mainboard are cryptographically "married", so if your console was repaired from someone else than an official Xbox repair center, it might be that the drive Firmware doesn't match the motherboard firmware, and
therefore the console can't decrypt the newer games with changed encryption anymore.

If you bought the console new, try to remember if you gave your console for repair to a non-Microsoft repair shop.

If you bought the console used, it might be that the previous owner attempted a self-repair or the console was modified.

In either case, the drive doesn't match the console's motherboard, and therefore newer games won't work.

Internal drives can't be replaced by users on xbox one or higher

Doing so will lead to console bans you can take it to BestBuy for repairs

Only external drives can be replaced by users

Xbox hdds are setup by factory and keyed to the motherboard

Hey there Newell! Can you confirm that this happens with all discs, or just some? And all of these discs will work in other consoles properly? I would recommend taking a look at our troubleshooter (support.xbox.com/.../disc-drive-solution)
