    Can someone extend the wireless range on the xbox controllers using this idea?

    I would like to house my XBox in an AV Closet/Rack Server Cabinet in a faraway location in the house from the media room.



    After searching and not finding any real wireless solution without using Windows 10 streaming, I came across a video of someone replacing the wireless module due to a fault.

    My idea is to remove the wireless module and use something like an SMA Female
    Coaxial Cable Connector Coax Adapter to UFL/u.FL/IPX/IPEX RF, then using a good quality coax cable to run to from the media room to the cabinet and convert back. The wireless module can then be placed in a tiny box (maybe 3D printed) with the Coax connection
    on the outside for ease of connectivity and hidden behind the TV/Projector screen etc. I noticed on the back of the module there is a type of Molex power connector (Hopefully, that is all it is doing), if it is that connector that provides the information
    to the XBox surely there is something someone can do to extend this? Maybe via ethernet cable?

    This is only a thought and theory, and hopefully, someone out there might understand the technology more and be able to do something for those like
    us that want all equipment out of the living rooms.

    Shocked, to say the least, that Microsoft doesn't come up with a simple USB dongle that could be plugged in via an ethernet extender, this would
    make so many people happy for something (forgive my ignorance) that sounds quite simple to be able for them to develop.

    The wireless adapter has a limited range. If you are using a desktop computer use the USB extender to get the wireless adapter as close to your controller as possible.

    You can, however, improve the range by removing all physical obstructions, minimizing wireless interference from other devices, and ensuring that the controller is in direct line-of-sight to the console.

    Just like any other internet server, they have to do load balancing or it will cause more issues. Last time Xbox Live was taken down by DDOS attacks, it took like 250Gbps of traffic to shut it down.

    The likely issue is the wireless setup, if your range extender is in the same room as the Xbox, then that is part of the issue, you need to realize that if your Xbox is getting 1 bar, and your range extender is right by the Xbox, then your range extender
    is getting poor signal as well, move the range extender closer to the router.

    And then we move onto wireless, is the router and range extender using the 5Ghz band? If either are using 2.4Ghz, then that'll reduce the bandwidth.

    If this is something you're still experiencing, we're afraid there is no range extender for Xbox One wireless controllers. However,

    controller disconnections     can occur for a variety of reasons.

    It sounds like you could be too far away from your Xbox One console and/or experiencing wireless interference with that other equipment you mentioned. More on that can be found via Solution 5 of the guide we sent you above.

    I have had my xbox one replaced due to constant disconnects. The replacement is better when playing alone but as soon as there is a second player/controller it disconnects every 30secs to a minute. My console is in an closet about 10m from the TV and I
    sit in between the two. Never had these problems with my 360 or PS3. I think I may return it and go PS4 as this is a joke.

    MS needs to wake up and address the problem rather than pretending it's not there. Surely it can't be difficult to make a USB connected range extender or something?
