Can Series 2 Controller bind to XBOX Adapter for Windows 10?

Hi,

It appears that the new Elite Series 2 Controller doesn't bind to the XBOX Wireless Adapter for Windows 10. The original Elite controller and standard XBOX wireless controller worked fine with it. I do not have bluetooth in my rig and expected that the Series
2 controller would readily bind with the adapter.

Is this a known problem or intended design? If not, is there a troubleshooting process for the adapter? The Series 2 controller works fine when hardwired.

The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.

Thank you for responding. You did not specifically mention that this is working with the Series 2 controller.

I know that it works with the original Elite controller as I've been using it for quite some time. I installed the Elite Series 2 Controller (wired with included USB cable) and it works as expected. The install process updated the controller software. When
I unplug the cable on the controller and then press the bind button on the adapter, the pairing LED does not come on. I've used 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 USB ports to no avail. When I press the bind button on the controller, the power button goes into fast blink indicating
it is searching for a connection. Pressing and holding the button on the adapter doesn't work. They just won't bind.

I checked the adapter drivers and they are up to date with the Microsoft catalog. I removed the XBOX ACC device and reinstalled. I updated Windows 10 version 1903 to 1909 and that didn't help. My rig is self-built high end (core i7-6700k, 32gig, Asus ROG
MoBo, Asus ROG Strix RTX 2070 Super, M.2 PCIe SSD, SATA SSD, overclocked CPU and GPU, liquid cooling, etc). My PC skills including troubleshooting, repairs, configuring, customizing, overclocking and so on are good.

I haven't seen the XBOX adapter mentioned in any of the Microsoft information on the Series 2 Controller which leads me to believe that they don't work together. For the original Elite, documentation existed stating that it would work on Windows 10 with
the adapter.

I resolved the problem by purchasing a USB 4.0 bluetooth adapter and the controller was able to connect via Bluetooth. Hopefully there are no lags/drops/interference from other RF devices.

I can confirm it works with the Windows 10 Adapter, I am using with my PC.

On the other hand it does not work fully with my PC Bluetooth on-board controller.

Ensure that the Adapter is plugged in to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 Slot and if your using an Extension cable make sure it 2.0 and 3.0 Compatible.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe the adapter is supported anymore. You would need bluetooth or usb to use the new controller.

The controller won't bind to the adapter

If the binding instructions are not working, try the following solutions:

Ensure you're within range (6 meters or less) of the adapter and it's in line of sight to the controller.
If you have an Xbox controller, try rebinding your controller to the console by pressing the Connect button on the console, and then the Connect button on the controller. The LEDs will flash and become solid when the binding is successful. If your controller
does bind, you have isolated the issue to the Wireless Adapter for Windows. If your controller does not bind to your console, see Set
up the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
Unplug your adapter, reboot your device, and then plug it back in (to another port if possible), and try again.
