    So this has been driving me crazy for probably the last six months or so. I seem to only be able to stream from my Xbox One X on Low settings in the Xbox Console Companion or the auto-selected equivalent in the Xbox app. Previously I was able to stream on at least High with no issues, but since that PC died and I replaced it I've had nothing but problems, and cannot determine the issue. In the Console Companion app I can stream on High for about 2-3 minutes, then sudden lag will kick in. It remains that way until a restart. I've also noticed that sometimes I can't remotely turn on my Xbox One X, though I used to be able to.

    I have tried:

    • A full factory reset on the console
    • Checking my network adapter's Speed/Duplex setting, which are currently 2.5Ghz full duplex
    • Testing remote play on the Xbox under Settings > General > Network Settings > Test Remote Play (all green check marks)
    • Testing speed on the Windows machine >> 330Mbps down / 24Mbps up / Ping 18 -- (Xfinity/Comcast)
    • Good old DISM Restore Health and SFC /Scannow
    • Used Console Companion at least has features to test latency, bandwidth, etc. Turned them all on and monitored. No obvious issues.
    • Ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes, not that those would do any good in this situation.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    You need to stream your console to your laptop (Has to have Windows 10) with The Xbox Console Companion app. Start the Xbox One, then start the Console companion app, then select the connect icon on the left side of the app, and your console should show,
    just select it, and select stream, that will then stream your console to your laptop.

    Thank you for replying - but that link is for mobile devices specifically, not Windows 10 devices, which is what the OP was asking about.

    Currently, the Xbox Console Companion streaming still works on Windows 10. The reason OP was asking about the Xbox app on Windows 10 is because the Xbox Console Companion app is prompting users to install the Xbox app, which does not have streaming support.
    I know that there is supposed to be a new Console Streaming app on Windows 10 later this year, but it is not available yet. I was just clarifying that for the OP and anyone else asking the same question about the new app, since I came here with the same question.

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to answer that.

    Unfortunately you cannot plug in the Xbox One into your laptop and use the laptop as a display. Also there is no app or program that would convert the HDMI port on your laptop to an input source rather than an output source.

    Your only option would be to use the game streaming through the Xbox Console Companion app. I would re over these two support articles on how to improve streaming:
