Can not remove XBOX wireless controller TRIED ALL FIXES

I cannot remove my xbox wireless controller from Devices and Settings menu, I always get "remove failed".

I am trying to remove because my controller suddenly will not connect after using it on my PC via bluetooth for years.

I have uninstalled all entries from device manager.

I have deleted the folder from the registry.

    NOTHING has worked.

This controller connects to my other PC without issue.

I am able to remove it from my other PC without issue.

None of the fixes I have found on this forum and across the web have worked, including doing a "hard reset" on the controller.

    Hello TroNiXx -,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I can see that you are having trouble removing your Xbox wireless controller from the Devices and Settings menu. This can be a frustrating issue, especially if your controller works fine with another PC.

There are a few possible solutions that you can try to fix this problem. Here are some steps that you can follow:

    1. Uninstall the Xbox wireless controller from Device Manager. To do this, open Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth category, right-click on Xbox Wireless Controller and select Uninstall device. Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall.

    2. Remove the Xbox wireless controller from Devices and Printers. To do this, open Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound, then Devices and Printers. Right-click on Xbox Wireless Controller and select Remove device.

Important : This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the

    3. Delete the registry key that belongs to your Xbox wireless controller. To do this, open Registry Editor by pressing Windows + R keys and typing regedit. Navigate to this path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BTHPORT\Parameters\Devices. You will see different folders under Devices, each representing a Bluetooth device. Find the one that belongs to your Xbox wireless controller by looking at the Value Name on the right side. Double-click on it and check if you see your device name in the Value Data. If yes, right-click on the folder and select Delete.

Well I guess I'm screwed then. This is why 3 out of 4 of the desktop PC's in my house run Linux.
