  1. Can not play LAN "You Need Permission"

I have both an Xbox One and an Xbox One X. My kids love playing Minecraft, and when we found out multiplayer via lan was a possibility I bought the Xbox One X and minecraft for it as well. We played together since December, but recently we are unable to
    play LAN games anymore.

The message we get is the following:

    You Need Permission

You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy and online safety settings on Xbox.com

Unfortunately this is not the truth. We have full permissions for online interaction, yet the message persists. It seems others have the problem as well, but no solutions are available. I hope by this post that others with the same problem become more vocal. I
enjoyed playing with my kids, and enjoyed watching them build worlds together. They have plenty of other things to do, but I get the question weekly: When is Minecraft going to be fixed? My answer is always: I don't know, hopefully they update it soon.

    :)

  2. Playing multiplayer Halo on 2 linked XBox Ones

Hey there, unfortunately, LAN play is not an option all consoles involved would need access to the internet where you can setup a custom game over live.

The AD-Hoc protocol will not allow you to play LAN on your consoles -
you will need them both connected via the same router
or LAN (in your case wireless) and then start a LAN local lobby on one console in the game and join it on the other console if that is supported in your game.

You can use powerline adapters but they have problems with packet loss and bandwidth limitations, but it can be better than wired in some situations. I would recommend ethernet always.

  4. Can not play LAN "You Need Permission"

Update: I just verified that the ipad version is able to connect to my multiplayer world. However, trying to connect to the ipad game is not possible because of the aforementioned issues. It looks like a microsoft sided problem.
I have emailed Mojang with a transcript of my first post to see if they have a solution or maybe are able to escalate with Microsoft.

  5. Hey there, what we would recommend in this case is reaching out to our
    chat/phone
teams so they can take a closer look at the accounts and the way the permissions are set up with you.

  8. Can not play LAN "You Need Permission"

Update: Went to Microsoft support with this since it is not resolving on it's own, we tried logging in and out, checked the settings and uninstalled and re-installed the games on both machines. Nothing worked. Currently there is an open case with Microsoft.
