Can not demo with a 14 day trial xbox live gold

We just recently purchased the xbox1s with 2 terrabyte hd for my duaghters bday. Couple days ago we also purchased an extra remote so me or my wife could play games with her. We used a 14 day free xbox gold card that came with controller so that we could
install games my wife downloaded from the 360 onto the xbox1s. Everything went great till we tryed playing the new ARK game. My wife really wanteswanted to check it out kinda like screening the game before we let our duaghter try it before we buy it for 34.99.
However it says must be gold which she used the card and switched from the 360 to the box 1s. So that couldn't have happened if the gold trial didnt go through but cant demo any games. If a person can't demo a game before they spend 35 bucks on a game, not
to mention 60 bucks on gold just to play, how do you expect to get more people to join xbox? I barely make ends meet on single income so i dont know ill buy anything else cuase cant even demo a game before i waste another 100 bucks.

You're eligible for games with gold only if you're on an Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial.

If you're on a 14-day prepaid code trial, you're not eligible. You must have a current Xbox Live Gold subscription or trial that requires a credit card.

Trial cards do not change your account status to gold. They only give you access to some aspects of online multiplayer. There are some things that require a full paid gold subscription so trials will not work.

Because a 'xbox games pass ultimate 14 days trial code' equals a 'xbox game pass 14 days trial code + xbox live gold 14 days trial code', so for new Microsoft/Xbox accounts, a 'xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial codes' could be used/sold as 'xbox game
pass 14 days trial code' or 'xbox gold live 14 days trial code' , right?

Please help to clarify.

I am assuming the 14 days of gold is a free trial as microsoft do not sell 14 day gold memberships.. Free trials do not give you access to all the gold features. This is meant to be used to test the xbox live features. If you want access to gold exclusive
demos and access apps that require gold membership you will need to purchase a proper gold membership.

that is why unable to get the backward compatible games. They will not work with the 14 day trial unfortunately. In this link

describing Xbox live gold there is a section explains the trials.

With an Xbox Live Gold 2- to 14-day trial, you can get Xbox One Games with Gold, and discounted Gold deals.

If it was a one month trial you could get the backward compatible games.

if u buy a xbox console then u will get given a 14 day free trial but xbox dont give away 14 days free trial for xbox live gold
