can not change install location on pc for gamepass

    hello

i am trying to install games from game pass onto my D drive. However when i go into settings > general and change the location to D, from C, it ignores this. It also asks me to choose a folder in my D drive. Every folder i choose i get a message saying i cannot choose that location

i am at a loss. I have also tried completely removing all xbox related files from my pc and re-installing them. This also does not work

    :)

Changing the Install location for gamepass games

I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

    1. Open Windows Update and look for updates, update everything, including optional updates. Restart to apply updates and try again.

    2. Press Windows Key + i and go to apps, search for ''gaming services'' click ''advanced options'' and then ''terminate, repair and reset. Try installing the game again.

    3. Launch PowerShell as an administrator and enter

    “get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”

Restart your PC, open PowerShell as admin again, and enter

    “start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN”

The Microsoft Store will open and ask to install Gaming Services, install. Then try installing any game again.

Xbox Games App on PC and Gamepass for PC - Microsoft Windows Games Cannot Find Installed Games on Install Folder

if you change the storage location for installed apps under settings it should do it for you, if not then google removal of gamepass folders as it requires changing all the permissins and ownership of windowsapps and programfiles folders on that drive.

XBOX Gamepass PC not letting me change install location

Hello, . Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Do you know if your O: drive is NTFS? Xbox app only allow games to be installed on NTFS partitions.

    - Go to Start > Computer > Right Click the drive you wish to check > Properties.
    - In the Disk Properties window, you will see it next to File system.

If it's FAT32, just convert it to NTFS:
Open a command prompt window by typing Command prompt in the Windows search box. Right click on it and Run as administrator. Type:

    convert O: /fs:ntfs

Press Enter to being the process.

The file system conversion process should not take very long and the on-screen details are fairly intuitive.

Once completed, your FAT32 drive will be converted to NTFS. Close the Command Prompt window and you’re all done.

If the partition is already NTFS, try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your external SSD and then try installing the game again.

Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

After making the change, restart the computer and check if you can now save the games to the selected drive. Let me know how it goes, please.
Hi Lucas. I don't want to be arrogant however I would appreciate a reply soon. Im going to put my answer in this comment instead as you aren't reading the others "Thanks for the reply I tried this (The SSD was already in NTFS) and I also tried changing the install location of apps but neither of these work. I have tried to completely restart it along with game services and then also change the install location in the app both ways. Any further help would be appreciated!"
