Can my son create a new account and preserve his XBox history?

Many years ago, my son's uncle gave him an XBox 360 and he began gaming under my Microsoft account with his own gamertag. He's nearly 21 now and away in college so we'd like to disassociate his gamer information from my MS account so he can setup his own account, hopefully transferring his game history to his new account. From my own research, I suspect this may not be entirely possible but can we at least transfer his gamertag to his new MS account? I don't think he'll be overly upset about losing his gaming history but I'm sure he'd like to maintain his contacts with his online friends.

Thank you for reaching out to the forum. Unfortunately it is not possible to move any history or gametag to another account. I would recommend posting his new Gametag on the wall of his old, so that his friends can follow him over.

Firstly I can confirm that it is a Microsoft Account. The issue is that the account was created using my ex-husband's Microsoft account, which I can not access.

I can not legally login into his account and so I want to move all of my son's game profiles off my ex-husband's account to merge onto a new profile. The only way to do this is to be able to access the existing account, which I don't have access to.

Since my son plays the Xbox and not my ex-husband, my ex-husband left the Xbox with his son when we separated.

How can I verify that the game accounts on the Xbox belong to my son when they are registered on my husband's Microsoft account. I can't provide order history as I can't access the account to provide it.

you can use your Microsoft account (which is the same as an Xbox account) or you can create a new temporary account purely for your son to contact Support for the purpose of recovering his account.

But this is the way it works on 360, you must create a new account for your son or he can use an existing one already created.

I had the same issue trying to setup convert my sons offline account to LIVE. Tried to "Join Xbox Live" from console, was told I needed to to live.com and create a Microsoft account. Went online, paid my $0.50 to verify. Went back to Xbox console and
tried to "Join Xbox Live" again. Entered my son's new child Microsoft account email address and password then entered my parental Microsoft account address/password and was received a notification that child Live profiles need to be created online at xbox.com.
As with you I went back to the computer and created the Live profile and it assigned his Gamertag. When I went back to the Xbox and tried to migrate the offline account to the Live account and was told that the Live account was already in use (or something
to the effect). So I had to create a NEW Xbox profile for my son. So now he has an offline profile with all his achievements and the new LIVE profile with nothing.

This makes no sense. There should be a way to connect the newly created Gamertag to his existing offline profile as you can with an adult profile.

I would like to convert my other son and daughter's offline accounts to LIVE but am not sure I want to go through the hassle and them have them lose all their achievements.
