CAN MICROSOFT FIND OUT WHO REDEEMED MY CODE BEFORE I BOUGHT IT?

We thank you for bringing this inquiry to our forums community, and understand that this concerns someone else redeeming a code for Xbox Live after you had already completed the purchase for the product.

Unfortunately, this community only handles troubleshooting in regards to Xbox consoles and gameplay errors on Windows 10.

Where was the code purchased? If purchased through a 3rd party retailer, it would be best to get in contact with their customer support to handle such inquiries.

I bought 2 $100 xbox gift cards from Costco online. I recieved them in my email a short while later. Microsoft is saying they are already redeemed. Since my information is connected to Noth my costco and Microsoft account is there a way to track who fraudently redeemed these codes? My email was un opened and I opened it as soon as I got it. How does this get fixed? Costco says 1 to 3 days, but what I'm trying to get is on sale now. It seems Microsoft should be able to track where and when it was redeemed. Or am I just screwed out of $180 by some Costco or Microsoft employee?

Jeff, were you able to find out who redeemed your codes? I'm having the same issue with my Xbox e-cards that I purchased from them on 12/12!

Just a clarification, I actually posted this for a friend.

He bought the console second hand from someone, he told me (after posting this) that the person who used the Xbox before redeemed the code, so no, it's not on my friend's Microsoft account.

Since the code was not redeemed on the same account he was trying to use on Windows, makes sense that he does not have access to the game

But I still don't understand how my friend was able to play the game on Xbox even after the person who originally redeemed the code removed his Microsoft account from the console.

Please note that the console was not factory reset.

unless you bought a gears controller and redeemed the code before the 9th of september. this is a known issue that microsoft made the mistake of giving people who bought the controller the Infected Omen Skin pack AND Adam Fenix. they then realised and stopped
it on the 9th of september.
