Can I use Xbox credit to pay for game pass?

I really want to use my Xbox credit to pay for game pass. But I don't know how.

Will it automatically be applied when recurring billing reaches the next charge? I have a long time to wait until then. Is there any risk of my credit expiring before then?

Basically, how do you use credit in your account to pay for game pass?

You must have a credit card or pay pall as a backup. You can't gift it. The account that has credits must buy game pass ultimate. As I said you can do it with the Microsoft credit but you will need a credit card or pay pal. Just go to your game pass on your
box or on this link: Game pass.

You can use your Microsoft account balance to purchase a subscription, but you do also need to have a credit card/Paypal on file since it starts a recurring subscription. To use it, you would just have to choose your Microsoft account balance as your payment method when you purchase Game Pass.

Thank you for your response. I already have a subscription running at the moment. How can I set my Microsoft account balance as my payment method for when recurring billing comes into effect? That is some way into next year.

Aw man! Oh well. I wanted to put my credits towards Sea of Thieves. I guess I'll put them towards State of Decay 2, or use them to pay for Game Pass. I can use the converted credits to pay for Game Pass... Right?
