For upgrades to Premium as long as they are in the same platform it should work, if you have an Steam game the Premium upgrade can only be purchased from Steam no other platform.

You can play on September 1 if you purchase Deluxe Edition, or the deluxe upgrade to go with your game pass subscription

To play in advance you need to buy the full game in Premium edition version.
