Can I use the hub insider app and NOT use OS updates?

Having the same problem, but can't update offline because I don't have a 4gb usb. Although my update says 386mb and is trying to update from os .3047 to os.3054

I contacted support and they said it was due to the preview program insider hub.

So im trying to unenroll now so i can actually play something.

if that's the case, you may simply delete the inside hub from your console and then try the update

As I said put the app on the S to see if it is enrolled. Sounds like your son maybe enrolled if he has been showing you the app. You have to join the avatar beta via the insider hub app. It does not come with an OS update. Someone in your household hold
has become an Insider and downloaded the avatar beta app.

That would be an easy fix but they told me to format my xbox to see if it works and of course it didnt,

Now im stuck at the update failed screen and cant go offline now.

Open the Xbox Insider Hub app and go to Settings > Manage Devices. There you can unenroll your console.
