Can I use a Xbox gift card with foreign currency to buy games?

My friend just gave me a £50 Xbox gift card. I have a US Xbox Live account, and my current account balance is USD. Will I be able to add a gift card with foreign currency to my account?

Foreign gift cards can only be used in thier respected regions

Ok... I want to buy a 4000 msp gift card, but obviously their ending. 1. Can i still purchase the points and use them to buy things that say to purchase with currency? 2. Do they have local currency gift cards? 3. Are the prices for currency gift cards
equal to prices of msp point cards? (eg, 4000 msp cost $60.00, will they have $60.00 gift cards?)

 

You can't redeem codes that are from different region than yours. If the code says that it can be used worldwide, then I guess it's possible.

 

then how can one send a gift from the US to the UK for the Xbox since there is a Region Block?

ms points has always been region locked the only time you could change ms points for another region was thru the region migration tool for your OWN account

gifting is not a supported service

if you choose to use the system in a way it isn't intended

you do so at your own risk

you cannot transfer ms points or currency

you will have to look up yuour own etailer

gift cards has always been region specific

 

That's funny cause last year when I sent him a code from a 1400 points card here and sent it to him so he could purchase minecraft and it worked then it shouldn't have worked ? either way is there a way to send Ms currency to the UK via Gift?

 

no and it is a clear violation of the terms of use

the only way us ms points codes would work if he had a us account

you will have to find your own method of giving him a code

messenging is not intended for trading

using a out of region account probably caused issues with downloads which is why its never recommended he probably has since then migrated to UK to his actual region

MS points were always region locked

if you do intend to gift why not ask him for a friendly neighborhood etailer or tell him to buy it himself

fyi migration wont solve your issue as most triple a titles are region specific

and currency is also region locked and doesn't transfer regions
