Can I transfer my son's Fortnite skins from my email address to a new email address?

Thank you for your response. It is very helpful.

The existing Microsoft account is currently using my gmail address, not a Microsoft domain email, so that should not be an issue.

I am concerned that if I do not execute the following changes in the right order, I may do irreparable harm.

This is the order that I think I need to perform them in:

1. Remove my daughter from the family group currently associated with this account.
   
2. Leave the Family Group as the current organizer.
   
3. Change the Name, Email address, and Birthday on the Microsoft Account from my Gmail address to my son's Gmail address.
   
   1. Note: He is 11 years old, so I'm not sure if this will result in his account being restricted in any way that my account is not presently.
      
4. Create a new Microsoft Account using my Gmail address (the same Gmail address previously associated with the above account that was changed to my son's)
   
5. Add my daughter and son as family members under the new Microsoft account using my email address.
   

Is that correct?

He recently made some purchases on the account using a gift card. I trust that if I update the Name, Email address, and Birthday, those purchases will still remain available to him.

Lastly, there is an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription currently on my account (my future son's account).

I'm trying to understand the implications of that remaining on the Microsoft account that I plan to update to his Gmail address vs. not renewing that subscription and restarting in on the new Microsoft account that I will create with my Gmail address.

Nothing (game saves, purchases, achievements, in-game content earned, etc.) can be transferred between accounts. That being said...

If you are creating a brand new Xbox live account for your son (meaning he will be playing under a new gamertag all his own), he will be starting over from the beginning, and would need to re-earn/purchase any skins, achievements, and game progress.

If you are changing the email address associated with the Xbox live account (meaning he will still be using the same gamertag, just use a different email for logging into the account), you can follow the steps here.

Be aware that if the original email address tied to the account is a Microsoft domain (hotmail, MSN, Outlook, Live, etc.) and you remove it as an alias on the account, that email account will be permanently deleted from Microsoft's systems and cannot be used to send/receive email (it will be fully deleted with no option to recover it).

Thank you. I have seen the area where I can change my email address and place another. So the 2 questions

1. The current email - my son has a ton of credits or gift cards or something… can that be transferred to the new email? Is there a way to transfer it to the new email. Or transfer his profile to the new email?

2. If I delete the email from what’s there. I can still use this email for regular email use.

The goal is that when my son signs on to his Xbox- it is not my email address and his own assigned email address for that box??

However, we can try to guide you on how you can do it on your end. If we won't be able to transfer your son's email, I would need you to contact our dedicated Xbox Live support so that they can help you transfer emails or escalate the case to our higher dedicated team if necessary.

Yes, you can transfer your son's Xbox account to a new email address and remove your email address from the account. To do this, you will need to follow these steps:



1. Sign in to your son's Xbox account using your email address and password.

2. Go to the "Settings" menu and select "Account."

3. Select "Sign-in, security & passkey."

4. Select "Change email address."

5. Follow the prompts to add your son's new email address and make it the primary email address for the account.

6. Once the new email address is added, you can remove your email address from the account by selecting "Remove" next to your email address.

7. Your son's gaming data and progress will remain intact, and he will be able to continue using his account with his new email address.



After removing your email address from your son's account, you can create a new Xbox account using your original email address. However, please note that any gaming data or progress associated with your son's account will not be transferred to your new account.

Create a new Windows Live ID and transfer the gamertag you don't use to the new email address. Then transfer your son's gamertag to your wife's email address.
