    Decided to break back into gaming because my old Xbox was fried due to an improper shutdown in the middle of a system update.

    Needless to say, I’ve lost everything. Though there is a silver lining to this storm cloud.

    I’ve provided all necessary details and security information to confirm I’m the owner of the account. However, due to work and a hint of forgetfulness, I wasn’t able to address the reset link previously given to me within the allotted 24 hr timeframe.

    Now that I’ve found some time to finally get my Xbox acc up and running, the bot in charge of sending the password reset link either thinks I’m some kind of hacker, or ID thief. More than likely because of the volume of reset links I’ve requested.

    The acc I’m trying to recover has been used for more than almost two decades. The names been changed, and it has a gamescore upwards of 38,000. (Yea I was a chubby little couch potato lmao)

    It was also last active less than four months ago.

    There is a s i z a b l e amount of money associated with the account too.

    If I could get in touch via email, or even phone with an agent or rep., they’d be a literal godsend. As the cold, callous tone of the machine voice is beginning to slowly chip away at my sanity.

    Hey, thanks for taking the time to try and help.

    Since I’ve made this post, I’ve followed the directions given and filled out numerous reset link request forms over the course of two days, as that’s all I could do.

    Unfortunately, whatever “team” is responsible for determining whether or not I’m the real owner of the account, which I am, has decided to delete my whole account because of too many requests for a reset link when I’ve provided all the information necessary to get one!

    The online chat just stops me stone cold as soon as I mention I’m having a sign in problem. Basically saying “you’re screwed and no one can help you.” Calling the support robot and telling it the problem only got my number catalogued so that it tells me constantly “password problems can be settled online!” Then it basically tells me to get soaked by hanging up.

    I’m sure even you can see how redundant that is. No hacker or thief is going to go through this much trouble to get my account. Especially not going to the support team (or robots) directly.

    Needless to say, I’m floored. I did not expect this level of callousness from a AAA company. It’s almost as if they don’t want me to recover it so I’ll have to spend all that money again!

    I would recommend contacting customer support. If they can verify you into the account, they can assist with getting a password reset link sent to your good email.

    The only way to reset your password is to click the "forgot your password" link underneath the password on the sign in page. You'll have to go through the process, email yourself a reset link or fill in the customer support form and wait for them to email
    you the link. Once you have the password you can go and change the secret question on accounts.live.com.
