Can I share my online status to certain people on my friends list

Unfortunately, there is currently no feature that would allow you to manage which of your friends can see when you are online. If you'd like to see such a feature included in a future update, I'd suggest joining the official Xbox Insiders subreddit and participating in the weekly "Xbox Requests" thread.

For your reference:

Everything is set to everybody besides my friends list, profile sharing, and online status, but that says for xbox 360 only.

I have most of my settings at "Friends Only"

Mainly for the reason that when online status is set to friends only only people on your friend list are able to join your current game from your profile

And I really don't see why people not on my friend list would need to know what games I play or don't play

As the crafty Badger said you can now have up to a thousand random, strange people on your friends list! I'd like to see a sort of "Close Friends" list added where you can place certain friends in so can find them quicker. Speaking of which it'd be nice
if the Xbox One notified you when people in the Close Friends list came online etc.

My kids have played online with people on their friends list. A few random games but neither of my kids have Kinect sharing turned on. So far I have had no problems but we don't play Kinect allot.
