Can I re-download Destiny on Xbox one if I previously purchased it on Xbox 360?

Someone told me if I purchased Destiny on the 360 I can re-download it on the Xbox One later on for free (using the same account).

how true is that?

Downloading purchased games.

So recently canceled my Xbox live account. I wanted to re-download a game I previously purchased, the problem is I can't download it back on my Xbox. Is there a way to do this without having a Xbox live account. If so can someone please instruct me on
how to do it. Thanks in advance

Will Previously Downloaded Games Move?

I have been playing Destiny since day one on my 360, and I have been contemplating buying an xbox one black Friday. if I buy the Taken King (Destiny 2) to download through the 360 , will I be able to re-download it on the Xbox One?

That is absolutely true. However this offer is only valid until January 15. After that you will not be able to do the upgrade for free.

Purchased games can be re-downloaded (otherwise most people would still purchase physical media). Delisted games cannot be purchased on the Xbox Game Store.

I'm trying to determine:

a) Can anyone re-download Driver San Francisco to an Xbox 360?

b) Can Driver San Francisco purchased on a Xbox 360 only be re-downloaded to an Xbox One? (I cannot test this as I dont have an Xbox One).

c) Am I the only person with this problem?

d) Is the problem just in my region - Australia?

Incidently, the Australian online store has a button to re-download the game: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/driver-san-francisco/

But I get an error message that I do not have a "compatible device", even though my Xbox 360 appears on my Microsoft Account under "Devices".

So you re-download the items on the Xbox One console? For example, when upgrading to the Xbox One version of Minecraft, none of the skin packs you previously bought would work unless you re-downloaded them through the Xbox One Marketplace, doesn't matter
if you've previously downloaded them on the Xbox 360's marketplace.

So to confirm you're saying you've already successful downloaded them again on the Xbox One's marketplace? They should be available to you for free. If that is the case, I would be making a post over at Bungie's forums.

I don't believe you should have to re-enter the codes, I think it should be as easy as finding the content on the Xbox One's marketplace and it should let you download that content at no additional cost. If you've never re-downloaded the items on the Xbox
One console I can almost guarantee that's your issue....
