    Hello,

    I see that the Xbox One S All-Digital is on sale for a pretty good deal.

    I was wondering if there was a way I could still play my old Xbox One games (that I own physical copies of) on this console somehow. Am I able to re-download the same game as a digital copy without having to buy it again?

    Can I buy a Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and migrate all of the games from an Xbox One S?

    Hi there,

    You can only play digital games in the Xbox One S All-digital, which means, games you buy online from the Microsoft Store.

    If all the games that your son has are physical format (discs), then it is better to get a normal Xbox One S. You would have to buy the digital version of any game if you want to play it on the Xbox One S All-Digital, regardless if you have the disc or
    not.

    In case you choose to get an Xbox One S-All Digital, you can transfer all the digital games and apps from your son's console to an external drive, and then just plug it to the new console to play.

    You have names mixed up. There are no consoles named the Xbox One Series S or Xbox One Series X.

    The Xbox One/One S/One X all have a disc drive.

    The Xbox One S All Digital Edition does not have a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series X has a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series S does not have a disc drive.

    All the consoles can play backward compatible games. The Series S and One S all digital edition can only play games digitally downloaded.

    The other consoles can play games from disc and from digitally downloaded,

    I hope this clears things up for you.

    Even though a game on physical disc may be downloaded/installed to a console, the disc is still required to actually play the game.

    You are referring to the Xbox One S All Digital Edition console? If this is correct, then you will need to purchase a digital copy of the game in order to play on the All Digital console.
