Can I go to local Microsoft Store to get controller replaced/repaired?

Sorry to hear about what happened. I don't think Microsoft's Physical Store will be able to replace it since it's not actually a service center.

I suggest to instead look for a participating Best Buy Service Center for in-person support in the US.

I am not sure about consumer law where you are from, but in a lot of countries you can take it back to where you purchased it from as your contract is with the store and not Microsoft. They have a legal responsibility to replace the controller for you or
at least offer a replacement while yours in in for repair. Contact your local citizens advice for information.

I can understand how this would really annoy you. I do believe that Microsoft want to get you a working controller as quickly as possible and don't care if it is you or the store they have to deal with

The only official repairs are when you send the console away. Microsoft don't license any local stores to do repairs on the console.

Walmart wont repair the console themselves. They'll either issue a replacement or send your console to Microsoft to fix.

Please note that I'm not supporting Microsoft's policy. I think it is stupid that they charge so much. However posting that you've had third party repairs done on your console on the official Xbox forum, is probably not the wisest choice to make.

To Microsoft it doesn't matter that you've not modded, simply that they haven't fixed it. Hell the reason I left the Ambassador program was that instead of telling people how to replace the analogue sticks on their controller, I had to tell them to buy a
new one. This was because replacing the analogue sticks is seen by Microsoft as system tampering.

So if replacing the analogue sticks on a controller is seen as system tampering, you can be sure that repairing the console is going to be.

You can contact any Microsoft Store about a replacement or an exchange. You can also use the repair process online to replace or repair a controller
HERE.

if its under warranty then get it repaired/replaced.

if not you might be able to find a local store that offers a repair service.
