If your refering too xbox games with gold then they are aimed at xbox console. You dont need a xbox gold membership on PC too -play muitplayer so you can just view any games with in the windows store and purachse and play without gold. Just remember if youy
wanted too use party chat you would need gold on pc for this however you can use a free service such has discord.

There is xbox gamepass and some of the games in there are for pc has well with xbox playanywhere there are 18 games at present that fall into this. So the options are there based on how you want too play

Here's the thing: there are options if you don't want Game Pass Ultimate for whatever reason. If you are not interested in playing Xbox games on PC, then simply get Game Pass on Console which is $10 per month alongside a separate Xbox Live Gold yearly subscription.
If not interested in that, then stick with Xbox Live Gold without Game Pass.

But in every article they are saying that free to play games does not require xbox live gold membership... like fortnite
