Can I download an update on one game and play another game at the same time?

What the title says. Can I download an update on one game and play another game at the same time? I'm download the DR3 update which is 13GB (Taking FOREVER due to my slow connection), but I want to play another game at the same time.

I don't want to 'try' it and then find out that I have to start the download all over again. Also, if a download fails for some reason, does it pick up where it left off, or does it start all over again?

Eg, it works the same way. For example, i have 3 consoles in my house. I can download a game in one room and redownload and play it on either of the other 2 consoles. My husband can play it on that 1st console at the same time that i'm playing in another
room.

Will the same work for retail disk as opposed to a digital download?

Are you confirming If I buy one game disk I can play it on both consoles at the same time with another family member.

I dont want to be playing another game if weeks down the line i find out that because of it DR3 got corrupted and i then have to start from scratch.

I also will be downloading it in 3 sessions

 

I can add some information. I know you can download another game/app/dlc while playing a game or streaming videos. I have done this personally. On 360 it would pause the download if streaming or playing online. I know it doesn't do this for streaming
(don't know if it throttles it) and I'm not sure what it does if playing online (like multiplayer). Also if you have the system set to go to standby instead of fully shutting down it will download in a low power mode.

 

So, I decided to take a chance on it. I removed the disc of DR3, and put in another game. DR3 was still downloading when I was playing the other game.

So is dr3 fully downloaded now and bug glitch free?

 

It's at 89% complete. I *hope* it's bug-free.. I've come across the post regarding the glitches after the new patch. (Keeping my Fingers crossed).

 

Where can you see the status on the installation process? The only place I can see any sort of thing isn't in games and apps, where you'd expect it to be (not so much as a progress bar in there) - but in the notifications place, and all it says is 'installation
started'.

I've waited hours and still no progress given. So I shut it off and will go back later and see if it's going to have a 'change of mind'.

 

I replied in the other thread. It should be under My Games & Apps. You should see the games you have installed, and the game updating you should see a blue progress bar on the bottom, and a % number. If not, highlight the game, and press the 3 dash button
and see if the installation has been paused (It should say on the game widget if it's paused, failed, etc).
