Can I continue my save game with a new digital version of the same game?

So here is the situation.

I activated the Valhalla Ultimate digital edition on MY Xbox Series X(which I still have) while logged in with (ex)girlfriends Xbox live account.
I played the game while logged into my Xbox live account and also my own Ubisoft account for the game.
At one point we broke up and everything was fine until she got herself a new Xbox and logged into that one and made it her home Xbox. So now I cant play the game anymore, it says I dont own it because the owner of the game has logged into another Xbox.
So the question is - If I buy a new digital version of Valhalla, will I be able to continue my old save game and if that is true, then It also means I have to buy the same Ultimate version of the game, right? Or can I just buy standard edition and continue my save?

Been trying to figure this one out for quite some time now lol, thanks for the help in advance!

You encouraged me to buy the Complete edition. Luckily it was the Assassins 15th anniversary sale so got it for a decent price.

IT WORKS! I can continue my save game. You have no idea how happy this makes me. I absolutely love the game.

One weird thing happened though. First time I continued the game then everything was exactly like I left last time, but next day I start to play and my character has no gear on. Basically naked. So what happened was that all the stuff that I was playing with was from the Ultimate pack/Complete edition and it was all max upgraded but now for some reason all the stuff kind of reset and I see the stuff coming into my inventory list as new items. I got all the stuff I had before but without any upgrades. It seems I got all that stuff needed for upgrading gear back to my inventory though so all good just needed to apply the gear and upgrade again.

All in all everything works and im happy af!

Hi,

Setting the console as her home console allowed other users to play those games with their accounts (i.e. your account) as well. Of course, now she has a new console and has changed the home console, you can no longer play. As long as your last play used your account, you can continue from where you left off with your own copy of the game.

However, I'm pretty sure you'd need to purchase the same Ultimate edition to continue. Either that or with the base game along with the same DLC.

The game saves are separate from the game data, so if you purchase the digital version you should be able to continue the same save.

The disc version and the digital version of a game require different data. You can use the same save games but you will have to download the game again completely

I'm not sure what you mean by a live gold game save. If you mean the digital version of a game, then yes, you can use the same game save if you purchase the same game on disc.
