Can an Xbox gamer tag change to a new email?

Unfortunately, you are unable to just move a gamer tag only to a different email. The only thing you can do is change the email so the account is then tied to the new email, which will have the gamer tag tied to it. However, if the email you are wanting to use, already has a gamer tag associated to it. You will not be able to change the email.

Thanks for coming to the forums. Unfortunately, you are unable to just move a gamer tag only to a different email. The only thing you can do is change the email so the account is then tied to the new email, which will have the gamer tag tied to it. However,
if the email you are wanting to use, already has a gamer tag associated to it. You will not be able to change the email. The link the assistant directed you to is great for changing the primary email.

Hey callydall, to cancel an Xbox Live subscription you will need to call into Xbox Support, but if you would like to be able to use your current email address with a new gamer tag you can create another email address and then use that new email and change
the current one on your old gamer tag. Once doing this, you should be able to use the email address that you want on your new gamer tag. Here is how to change your Windows Live ID

So the gamer tag associated with my email (the adult) is there to stay or can I delete that gamer tag and create my own? Then I could create a new profile for son #1 and a new gamer tag.

I have figured out/created a new profile and gamer tag for son #2.

So I would like to:

change the gamer tag that is connected to my email account (the adult).

If possible I would like to keep my son's gamer tag and just move it to the email account/profile I created for him... (I'm pretty sure you said I couldn't do this but just checking?
