Can a USB shortcut virus infect game consoles?

Hello Speedster996, with regard to viruses for Xbox one be it that any generation, it is not possible for the console to catch a virus.

As much as the console's operating system is a Windows 10, it's completely closed and modified, unlike a Windows you'll have on your PC.

No, that's not possible at all a faulty or even poor quality USB Flash drive can not damage a console electronically or electrically. The power used by USB is too small. This person is already worried about viruses, this will just increase their irrational fear/s.

Xbox consoles are locked down, they can not read/executable files/programs not designed for the Xbox Operating System. You can't get a virus via either the internet, the Xbox browser, storage devices other users or games. It just not possible, don't worry about it.

If you keep formatting your flash drives they'll eventually stop working. There really is no need to keep doing this.

I just thought that e.g. if I had a virus on the Windows, plugged Xbox Controller through USB, that then the virus could move onto Controller and then keep infecting other devices from Controller (just like USB Key)... You know, I did read that Xbox Controller is able to be updated, so I thought that it's like any device then that the virus could easily get there. I'm not so much aware of Xbox Updating, so... Or is it that Xbox itself update the Controller and not Windows? I'm confused as actually I know that normal old printer or scanner wouldn't get virus by plugging it to the infected PC, as there's nothing to infect (when it's not a WIFI model though)...

Yeah I might be a bit over sensitive for safety of my devices Just don't wanna mess around and end up Xbox infected too, or plugging Controller to other PC and get the other PC infected too... As there's a Cloud Gaming and I heard that you can connect Xbox Controller to Android too... Would be terrible to get all of devices infected...

No, the controller cannot be infected by a virus. The virus is only meant for Windows systems (otherwise the antivirus wouldn't pick it up), so wouldn't affect anything else. As for the Xbox console, it is locked down, so the virus couldn't infect it.
