Call of duty the latest version says it's installed but game won't launch

For Call of Duty ELITE remove the app and re-download it and for MW3 try to remove one of the latest updates and launch the game and install that update so it refreshes.

The Call of Duty games are not Xbox Play anywhere titles. Therefore, you will need to buy the PC version of the game. The latest PC Call of Duty games can be purchased via battle.net

Yes, you can buy the Vault Edition upgrade if you have the disc version of the game.

No you cannot actually per https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-iii-vault-edition-upgrade/9PK2J9GDNWW3 it says:

"Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III digital Cross-Gen Bundle required to redeem upgrade content. Sold separately."

Unless the description is just flat out wrong then the disc version won't work with the upgrade. They must have the digital version.

Just to clarify do you have the disc version or digital version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare? Did you happen to install the game to an external HDD?
