    Call of Duty BO6 Direct X Error Crash HELP


    Hi there,

    I recently built up a new pc with the following components:

    AMD 9950x

    x870 elite

    ddr5 32gb corsair vengenance x2

    3060 ti gefore 8gb

    1tb ssd

    When i first put everything together I was running windows 10 and playing Bo6 without a problem. I have since upgraded to Windows 11 and have encountered a few problems. I was getting Securityhealthsystray.exe bad image when i first booted the PC.

    I also started getting

    DirectX Error

    Error Code: 0x887A0005 (0x887A0007) (3488651598) D

    Signature F5799DA-DCDff881-3FB8B44B-26123AE4

    Location 0x0007FFF8CF8AB6A

    Executable cod.exe

    I have done a complete reset of my PC and re installed windows and all programs, this corrected the windows error, however I am still getting the Direct X error and Bo6. Any help would be appreciated!!

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

    Remove your account from the console (You need to have your email address handy so that you can log in later).

    2. Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

    3. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox.

    4. Wait a minute, and then plug the power cord back in.

    5. Press the Power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.

    6. Log in to your account again.

    After this, try your download again.

    Since you’re on an Xbox Series X and trying to launch Modern Warfare II, but it keeps taking you back to Black Ops 6, this sounds like an install redirection issue caused by how Activision bundles the games under a shared launcher. It’s more common now that multiple Call of Duty titles are accessed through one menu.

    Here’s how we can try to separate them and get MWII’s campaign launching properly again:

    1. Check Campaign Packs Under BO6’s Install Menu

    Even if it redirects you, go to:

    My games & apps > See all > BO6

    Press Menu > Manage game and add-ons

    Look for Modern Warfare II Campaign Packs under “Installed” or “Ready to install”

    If they’re missing, install them directly from there—not from the Store.

    2. Try Launching MWII from Your Full Library

    On your Xbox:

    Go to My games & apps > Full library > All owned games

    Look for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

    Select it, press Menu, then go to Manage game and add-ons

    Check if campaign files are listed and installed

    This sometimes works even when the Xbox dashboard links it under BO6.

    3. Use the Xbox Website to Trigger a Direct Install

    To avoid being redirected by your console:

    Sign in at https://www.xbox.com

    Go to: https://www.xbox.com/games/store/call-of-duty-m...

    Choose Install to my devices and select your Xbox Series X

    This can help separate the install and push MWII directly to your console.

    4. Remove MWII Content from BO6, Then Reinstall Separately

    From Manage game and add-ons > BO6, uninstall all MWII content (especially the campaign parts)

    Restart your console

    Then use the Xbox Library or the link above to reinstall MWII separately

    This might break the redirect loop and let MWII run as its own title again.

    Ensure that you are on the most recent version of the Xbox app and the Game

    Microsoft Store app > Downloads > Get updates/Update all

    Ensure that you have updated your PC to the most recent version of Windows, including optional updates

    PC Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates > Install

    Open the Xbox app on PC > (the game) >Manage > Files > Verify and Repair

    Sign Out of Your Accounts (Xbox App and Microsoft Store App):

    Open the Microsoft Store by pressing Windows Key + S, typing Microsoft Store, and selecting App Settings.

    Click on Repair and then Reset the app.

    Repeat the same process for the Xbox App and Call of Duty Game

    Restart Your Device:

    After repairing and resetting both apps, restart your device.

    Sign back into both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store using the same email.
