    Call of Duty Advanced Warfare NAT Strict on Motorola Surfboard SBG6782-AC Resolved


    Hey Everyone,

    This isn't a request for help but I helped my brother resolve a NAT issue last night and I thought I'd share what worked so maybe others can benefit. Initially the NAT issue was only for the Call of Duty Game, not the Xbox One.

    Modem: Motorola Surfboard SBG6782-AC

    Consumers | ARRIS

    * This was a store bought Wireless Gateway modem that was an upgrade from Comcast Cable's standard issue modem for the speed they signed up for. It was purchased at Bestbuy in FL.

    ISP: Comcat Cable

    Connection: Wired

    The issue: NAT Moderate/Strict (after trying to manually set static IP address on both console and modem configuration interface) and NAT Open on Xbox One, NAT Strict on Call of Duty Advanced Warfare.

    What we tried: After I logged into the modems configuration interface we followed the recommended enable/disable/reboot UPnP, then Port Triggering/Forwarding, and DMZ. I was able to set a static IP on the console but the modem configuration
    static IP we set resulted in many connectivity errors despite using the correct DNS settings on both machines. For his modem it didn't seem to work. After we restored the modem to factory settings I didn't bother to redo the static IP on either machine and
    things worked out.

    What worked: After trying all three with no success, I reset the modem back to factory default settings, disabled the UPnP feature since it wasn't working anyway, and set the DMZ host to match the Xbox IP Address on the network and console.
    I saved the settings, rebooted both the modem and the Xbox One and everything worked out great. I verified everything both on the console and the COD game to make sure there were no more issues.

    I've read around and it seems others are having similar issues but I think if you bought a upgrade modem for your Comcast cable service this solution may work. I know that DMZ is a last resort but for this set-up it worked out. I recommend if you have a
    similar Motorola Surfboard modem trying the three steps above and it that fails just use DMZ.

    Strict NAT on Advanced Warfare

    I'm having this problem with advanced warfare where it's says I have a strict NAT but my NAT on the dashboard says I have a moderate/open. My brother and I both have this issue. The modem we both have is the Motorola SBG6782-AC Cable modem. Hopefully I

    Dont ever use DMZ nd uPnP at the same time uPnP helps with ur ports, have you tried a static IP and port forward or port triggering? also is IPSec turned on normally found in the firewall section? another thing is on the xbox go to ur network altanate mac
    and clear it, it will restart ur xbox one

    First thing: bring behind a cone NAT means everything is fine with your network.

    Second thing: of you can join parties and your friends can hear you, it's normally not a network issue. If it was a network issue you would not be heard, too. So it's supposed to be a different problem. Maybe it's a problem with your headset or chat settings
    in general. Also during the destiny beta it was a known issue, that chat was not working when docked and then got undocked during the game.

    Suggestion is to do a cache reset (hold powerbutton for about 15 seconds), check all your chat settings, especially "sound on / off" and then try again.

    If that doesn't help it's recommended to open up a new thread on your problem, so you may get better tailored help for it and it is not really related to this issue here.

    I'm having similar issues but the difference is my 360, Wii U, ps3, and ps4 have no issues with NAT but my xbox one has given me plenty of headaches. I have cox and am using a Motorola modem and a trendnet router. My NAT used to be strict all the time,
    finally got it to open but now it says I've got a cone NAT. My issues got worse during the Destiny Beta and now have issues even doing party chat with friends. They can hear me but I can't hear them. I've spent the past 2 weeks reading up and trying all
    the different suggestions I found online similar to what you've tried yourself. At this point after 13 years having xbox as my main system I'm about to raise the white flag and give up. I've had no issues on PS4 and if that is the only place I can chat and
    play with friends then that's where I'm going to have to go.

    So...After digging around my set-up some more, my Xbox One lost its static IP on the console itself. I went ahead and changed the DHCP settings back to what it should be and it now works (for now).

    I assume all will be well until it loses the static IP address again. I'm assuming either a monthly update or a hard boot may have wiped that information out. Very weird...
