Buying didgiatl after having a disc

Hey guys, got a unique question for you. I had a physical disc in the past that I have since gotten rid of but still have the game downloaded in my games and apps since I have plenty of room to spare and thought I may want to pick it up again sometime. If
I wanted to pick that game up again (as I do right now) can I buy it digitally and then not have to re-download it from the store since it already installed? Like it will just update the key for the install or something along those lines? I'm wanting to know
if I can save some time skipping the huge download and not having to go to town to get another disc. Thanks!

No, the disc copies of games you purchased need to have the disc in the console to play, even after installation. There are upsides and downsides to disc vs. downloaded games, this is one of the downsides of buying a physical copy.

I don't know, but if it was me I'd contact Turn 10 first anyway -- they might be willing to swap your damaged disc for free.

Yes, a digital copy will work just fine with your downloaded from disc copy.

Since the game is already installed on your hard drive, you won't have to reinstall. However there might be some updates to the game that may require download

There is no difference between disc and digital outside of validation of ownership. If you buy digital after disc the inly thing that changes is you dont have to put the disc in

I recently lost the privilege of having ultimate since it's been 2 years after thr initial buying of my series x console. Now a game that is included with game pass has the disc with a warning symbol on it. However I do infact have the disc for said game but when I open it with the disc in it says I need to buy it.
