His account will have the $10 credit for Microsoft, then he will need to go t ok the shop in fortnite and use that to purchase 1000 v bucks. He then uses the v bucks to buy a battle pass

Thanks so much for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue and keeping us updated by reply. Based on the information you've provided thus far, it sounds like you gifted your son's account $10 of Microsoft account credit; however, when he is logged
into the same account on his console the credit isn't showing? This may mean that he has a separate Microsoft account/profile on the console. You may wish to verify that he is logging into his console with the exact same credentials and not another account.

In order to use the account credit, he must be logged into the same account that it was gifted to. If he is logged into the same Microsoft account on his Xbox, then you should be able to verify that he has the funds by going to the Settings menu > Account
> Payment & billing, then you should be able to view the Microsoft account credit available for use there. Once he has access to the funds, he can use them to purchase V-bucks (in-game currency) in the Microsoft store for use in Fortnite to purchase the Battle
Pass as previously mentioned by our Ambassadors.

Unfortunately not...it shows he has a balance online at his microsoft account page, but not on the x-box/in Fortnite.

Does it show as a $10 balance on his Xbox account? Usually it's applied that way and then he can use that balance to purchase the V bucks.
