Buy xbox live deal under a child account

Hi. I am trying to purchase the xbox live $40 deal for my son's account. It doesn't let me purchase it. It says "You need a parent to buy this. We can't send a request for this one, so you'll have to ask them another way. We find a hug and a "please"
works wonders!"

I tried logging in under my account but it only gives an option of "join" or gift for my account. I don't want to join and when I try to purchase the gift it charges the full $60 price. What settings do I need to change or are their ways for parents to
purchase this? thanks much.

Parent account

Changing the age under your profile data cannot change your xbox account from child to adult. If you have registered an account under 18+ of age in xbox live service that is a child account

 

BF3 Backwards compatibility download issue

This sounds like an issue with a Child Account that is managed under a Parent account. I deal with this same issue with a sub Child account. If your account is a child account you will have to make this free purchase using a Xbox 360 console only. For
some reason this is the only way to make this work, I do this with 2 Child accounts for my Grand children I manage. And it does not matter what your age is, if the account is a child account under another account you still have to make this purchase with
the 360 console.
