You can use pre paid card, credit/debit card or even buy gift card to buy the game with You account balance

The One store has never been updated to work with the Microsoft account balance for 360 or original Xbox content. You would have to purchase the game on a 360 in order to use the funds.

Game pass cards are not gift cards. So no, you'll need an Xbox Gift card to buy in game items.

You can't buy a gift card with funds in your Microsoft account balance. That would be essentially buying a gift card with a gift card. You would need to buy a game or other content in the store and use your account balance as the payment method.

Hey there Ed! Are you getting any errors when you try to buy the game? It looks like the Cashstar Gift Card is a Gift Card to RadioShack. If that is the case, you won't be able to use a RadioShack gift card to buy content off of Xbox Live.
