Bungie needs to restructure their loot system

For the record I love this game. I'm a grinder by nature and this game falls right in my wheelhouse. That being said, the loot system for this game is embarrassingly broken imo. I'm not a huge fan of games that just hand you the good stuff without putting
any effort or work into it, but that's exactly what's going on with the game right now. I love the Strike missions because they're difficult and make you work for the end game, but when the end boss is finally defeated, you are rewarded, not with a blue, purple
or even a green engram.... no sir, you get a strange coin and some wax..... really?!? Not even enough ammo to restock my, what turns out to be, wasted supply of heavy rockets.

When I can find all the ammo I'll ever need and a seemingly endless supply of different colored engrams scattered about at the mouth of a low level patrol mission cave, why would I ever want to play another strike mission ever again. A level 6 Thrall will
drop more blue and purples faster than a 30-40 min battle with Phogoth or the Archon Priest. Because you see those end bosses don't drop anything, not even hardly any ammo. This trend needs to be reversed.

I don't have a problem with the drop rates of the legendary and exotic engrams, you should have to work hard for the higher end guns and gear imo, but the ones who should be dropping the legendary items should be the end bosses of the higher level strikes.
The lower level strikes should be where things like Motes of light or even a bonus amount of materials like helium or iron should be granted while the mid and high level strikes should drop shards and mid to high level engrams. Fix this crap and give me a
reason to play the strike missions.

I still like this game and will continue to play it, but this issue needs to be addressed ASAP.

Can't get any legendaries to save my life.

I was just discussing this with a friend. To get a legendary item you need to be really lucky, or play the game long enough to buy one. I think Bungie *** up the loot system big time.

I agree.

A lot of people seem to be almost aggressively against the Skywatch farming method (despite it having no effect of themselves, but whatever). What you said is exactly why people do it. I love doing strikes or the dailies. I'll jump into an occasional
crucible match, but if I want some semblance of a reward for my efforts, I need to spend 20 or so minutes shooting into a cave. As it stands right now, this is the only thing that offsets a somewhat broken loot system.

 

Im level 23 and I tried the loot cave for the first time last night. There were 4 of us and spent an hour per team shooting at the caves. In 2 hours of looting that cave I got only one piece of blue gear that had more light on it than my previously equipped
boots. Then of course all the hardonic essence and weapon parts you could ever ask for from dismantling everything down. Between the 4 of us we didn't get any purple. Do people actually get legendary items from the cave?

I agree though. The legendary and exotic loot should drop from bosses...not 100% of the time but at least sometimes. Though you do get the random piece of gear back at the strike end-mission screen.

 

I have gotten several legendary engrams in the cave. Though the way the cryptarch works, they might as well be blue.

 

Bungie changed up the loot cave today. There is now a mini event...Not the actual event that drops from the sky.....There is now a message that says "The enemy is moving against each other" and TOOOOONS of enemies spawn all around you..Multiple Knights with
swords, wizards and they come in numbers. Many of the level 25+ guys that were there were dieing.

 

That's nothing new. It happens randomly in place of a public event. I've dealt with several of those over the past week. Pretty intense experience.

 

Oh ok that was my first time experiencing it today. I guess I just don't do a lot of patrols. It was intense!
