BUG - Cross platform play does not enable for child accounts no matter what settings you set. ...

Installed the November 2018 update for XBOX One and the latest update for Fortnite. Even with the above mentioned settings for privacy & online safety enabled the option for cross-platform play on Fornite is still not available when signed in from the
child account.

The moment has come finally.With the November update the change should now be implemented. To enable the cross play you will need to do the following:

1. Log onto the parent account
2. Go to family then manage family members
3. Select the child profile
4. go to privacy and online safety then Xbox live privacy
5. then go to view details and customize-communication and multiplayer
6. Then select you can play with people outside of Xbox live and select allow
7. to allow them to communicate also select "you can communicate outside Xbox live with voice and text

I have applied the November 2018 update. I'm certain because we now have keyboard and mouse support in Fornite. The setting you mentioned are available on the web at

Sign in to your Microsoft account

But the settings are NOT showing on the Xbox itself under Family Settings "Customize-communication and multiplayer". I am logged in as the parent account and selecting the Child Account to modify his permission.

Were you able to change them on the website? It might be a bug that they not showing on the console yet. If able to change on website go ahead change them then power cycle the console. Also make sure enable cross play on the game itself in settings. Please
keep us informed as we are keeping eye on this to make sure people able to change it.

Yes, I can change the settings on the website (the defaults for both setting are to allow). But doing so and restarting the Xbox doesn't seem to do anything. The option to "Allow cross-platform parties" still doesn't appear in the game settings when
running Fortnite under the child account.

Awesome its getting somewhere at least. On the game Fortnite when go into settings after hitting the menu button you will scroll to near the bottom and there is a little filter to enable cross play. This is within the game itself not in Xbox settings. Enable
it there then let me know if he able to play if not will look into this further. I will keep everyone up to date on here like I have been.

Please uninstall and reinstall the child profile after changing settings on website to see if that helps take effect.

Yes, I'm aware the setting to allow cross-platform parties is in the Fortnite game itself. That option does not appear in the games settings when using the child account with Fortnite.

What is strange is that I logged into an adult account and don't see the setting to allow cross platform parties either, but cross platform play is enabled. It used to appear on the game settings screen just under the options for streamer mode. Epic may
have updated the UI with the latest release. With the adult account, I was using a keyboard and mouse and when I went to start the game I was prompted to allow cross platform support since Epic wants to pair Xbox players using keyboard and mouse with PC players
using the same controls to make the games fair.

When I tried to start a game with the child account Fornite displayed a message saying cross platform play is not allow on this account. No option to enable it was given. So it looks like Epic may have changed how this works, but they still are not recognizing
when these options should be accessible to the child account OR the settings on the web aren't actually getting to the Xbox console itself.

I'll try removing the child account from the Xbox and re-adding it.

 

No luck removing the child account and re-adding it to the Xbox, same result. In Fornite the message I get says

"The input device you're attempting to use requires cross-platform play, but your Xbox Live User does not have persmissions for cross-platform play."

If Epic is checking these setting locally then it doesn't look like the Xbox is getting the settings from them web. Are you sure this is implemented in the November 2018 update? It would seem odd that these new settings would be added to Xbox live parental
controls, but the UI in the November 2018 isn't updated.

as soon as possible! We know everyone is excited for the cross-platform to be available on the Xbox console so everyone can play together.

Thanks for the update. So both settings (Play outside of Xbox Live and Communicate outside of Xbox Live) have already been updated on the website but it didn't allow cross-play yet?

Not sure what you mean that it's "part of the November 2018 Update" but our team is "still working on getting that option implemented into the console". The November 2018 update is the system software update that was released for the Xbox One today. If
it's not on the console at this point, it's not in the November 2018 update.

Are you saying we have to wait until a future software update on the Xbox One? How long will that be? Seems like this should have been discussed inside Microsoft before posting on this thread that " The moment has come finally.With the November update

Sorry for the confusion. What I mean is that they did come up with getting that implemented into the November 2018 update. However, there may have been issues with the coding so the option is available but it will not apply properly. So they are working
on it actually applying the settings to the profile.

We are fellow gamers as well and were just as excited about the news. We heard about the update as well but just like you all, we either experience issues ourselves or hear about issues from everyone too. We are a community and work together to make sure
everything is working. So sometimes, there are bugs and that is why we report it to get it taken care of.

Again, they have the option to change the settings for a child account using a parent account. However, they need to work out the bugs since the child accounts still can't cross-play.
