Broken Achievement - Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition - Sniper Duel

The "Sniper Duel" achievement for Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is broken. I just tried it numerous times for the past hour and it will not pop. I find a skeleton, I build a dirt tower next to the skeleton which is 52 cubes (meter) or higher, I shoot skeleton
with arrows, skeleton dies and achievement does not pop. I know this method works because I did the same thing on the Xbox One Edition and it worked.

Sniper Duel Achievement Xbox 360

So for the past few hours, I've been trying to get the Sniper Duel Achievement for Xbox 360. Every time I trap and go 50 meters the Skeleton despawns, day or night. Maybe the world I am is glitched, but I even tried on a new world that I randomly created,
and still had this problem. Is there a known bug about this or am I just going insane trying to get the achievement?

Hi there,

Just wondering, did you start the duel with it first? You need to grab the skeleton's attention first to initiate the duel, just whack it once or twice, then you can start building up or away & take it from there.

Let us know if you have done that & if it still isn't popping for you.

 

After 2 more hours of attempting this I am convinced that this achievement is broken with the latest release. Please have the dev team investigate this because others have posted similar issues online,

Method 1: I shoot a skeleton with 2 arrows, he shoots back at me, I build a 52+ cube tall dirt tower (skeleton stops shooting and stays still after about the 20th or so dirt block is placed), I shoot skeleton with arrow and it dies, no achievement pops.

Method 2: I shoot a skeleton with 2 arrows, skeleton gives chase, I build a wooden fence around him and place a torch on the fence, skeleton is trapped in pen, I walk 50+ blocks away, I shoot skeleton with arrow and it dies, no achievement pops.

I tried both methods multiple times with no luck.

A similar problem with broken achievements (Return to Sender, Local Brewery) happened on the Xbox One version a few months back that I also had trouble with. Those were fixed in a subsequent update.

Well, I finally got it to pop. It can't be done vertically, only horizontally. Also, the last arrow shot has to kill the skeleton when it is off screen (disappears due to being too far away). Considering the graphical limitations of the 360, this achievement
should have a much less distance requirement because mobs disappear when they get a certain distance from the player.

Had a long reply explaining how I solved the problem but the game is bugged and this site is bugged so I'll just say that I finally got it.

 

The vertical method will not work on the 360 edition. What I did was shoot a skeleton with two arrows using an un-enchanted bow at about 25 meters so it wouldn't pursue me. I then backed up enough to where the skeleton disappeared from rendering view. I
then shoot an arrow where I thought it would be, it died, and the achievement popped. The best place to do this is in a desert biome because it is brighter than most other biomes at night.
