Bring Windows Media Center Back!

I currently have 5 Xbox 360s that are used as media extender. Microsoft did a great job with this software and I believe that removing it from the Xbox one is a major step back. Not to mention that I have purchased the software on Windows 8.1 just to not
have support by "the best media device in the living room". Now I have to connect my Xbox 360 to the input of the Xbox one and add another remote to the mix and another device to turn on just to use windows media center. I know that somebody will say that
there is netflix and "play to feature" and Xbox video, but those things are multiple apps and do not support live TV recording among multiple devices. It's disappointing that so many customers have invested many many dollars and time in a great piece of software
just to have it no longer supported by Microsoft. We all know that it would take maybe a couple of days to enable this feature on Xbox One. Microsoft is starting to act a lot like Apple in terms of dropping support in light of the latest and greatest. Microsoft,
please listen to all of the users requesting this software on a device that they purchased for quite a bit of money!

HELP ALL XBOX USERS!

XBOX ONE MISSING WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER EXTENDER!!!

This is crazy! This system is supposed to bring media entertainment more easily to our fingertips, but it instead pushed it so far away when it comes to streaming our home media and recording tv capability through the Windows Media Center.

I just bought my Xbox One and I am so disappointed.

I set up this thread so I can get everyone's opinion on this issue as to bring this to the attention of XBOX so they could possibly bring an update to our consoles that would bring Windows Media Center Extender back!!!

Please voice your concern to get Xbox to create a fix!

Connect the Xbox 360 to Windows Media Center

By pairing the Xbox 360 with Windows Media Center you can stream movies, music, pictures, and media. Connecting the 360 with your Windows Media Center is actually very easy see below. Official site directions

NOTE: If you were previously using your Xbox 360 with a Windows Media Center XP Based PC, you will need to remove the existing connection.

To remove an existing xp account

• [1]On the Windows XP Media Center PC
  [2]Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Media Center, and then click Media Center Extender Manager.
  [3]Select your Xbox 360 and click Properties.
  [4]Click Remove.
  [5]Click Yes to confirm removal.

On the Windows Vista or Windows 7 Media Center PC

1. Click Start, Windows Media Center.
2. Select Task, Settings.
3. Select Extender.
4. Select your Xbox 360 Media Center Extender.
5. Select Uninstall.

On Xbox 360

1. On Xbox 360, go to My Xbox and then System Settings, then select Computers.
2. Select Windows Media Center, and then press the A button.
3. Select Disconnect.
4. Press the B button until you return back to the System Settings.

If you didn't have to remove a previous connection start here.

STEP 1

1. Gather Setup Key from Xbox 360
2. Press the Media Center Start button on the remote or go to My Xbox, then select Windows Media Center. Advance through the on-screen instructions to obtain the 8-digit Media Center Setup Key. Write this key down.

STEP 2
Add Extender

1. At the Windows Vista or Windows 7 Media Center PC, launch Windows Media Center. Select Start, Windows Media Center.
2. Select Tasks, Add Extender.
3. When prompted, provide the 8-digit setup key you received from your Xbox 360.
4. Complete the Extender setup.

 

They now have a Media Player app that will read items either from a USB or your computer. Please search the App Store for the Media Player app and install it.

 

Except the "Media Player" app is almost totally useless, plays nearly everything including DVD's in 4:3 (16:9 @ 4:3/ 4:3 in something unwatchable). The ONLY format I have that plays correctly is MP4's.

I am kicking myself for not getting a PS4 !
