Bring my old gamertag to my newer account

hello there,

so i have two xbox accounts. one, an old account under a non-Microsoft email address. and two, an newer one with a Microsoft email address.

So as i understand it, you can't merge accounts so instead i want to bring the gamer tag i have for my old account and make it the gamer tag of my newer account.

is this possible? im happy to delete my old account but i want make sure for certain my newer gets the gamer tag and not someone else.

no this does not work the only thing you can try to do is to change your old name and try to claim it with your new account

I don't believe you can transfer your gamertag to a new account , but one way to go around it would be to associate your old gamertag with a new email address. Since your new microsoft email is already associated with a new account, you cannot use that one
but here is the info to change your email on XBOX. Not sure it will resolve your issue though unless you delete your new account.

Since you used a special character, your account will keep your old gamertag as well for use in areas that aren't updated to work with the newer gamertag policy.

You're correct.. you can't add an email address that's ever been associated to a MS account.

I have a similar issue, wanted to move my Gamertag from an old Hotmail account to a newer MS account I have, you basically can't, it's awful.

Everyone has two gamertags, the old one also referred to as the classic gamertag from Xbox 360 times, and a newer one, that is used in newer consoles and on PCs.

If you change your gamertag and use characters that aren't supported in the old Xbox 360 gamertag or that is more than 15 characters long, that won't change, and you'll end up with two different gamertags.
