    BRING BACK 15 CHARACTER GAMERTAGS


    PLEASE BRING BACK 15 CHARACTER GAMERTAGS! When Microsoft recently “updated” the gamertag system a few months ago and copied Discord’s current name system, they decreased our gamertag limits from 15 characters to 12. This is a downgrade if anything, not to mention many people do not like the new Gamertag system overall. This seriously limits our options and creativity for our gamertags. A large majority loved the old gamertag system, the only thing it needed was for Microsoft to exchange old and unused account names that haven’t been used in over 3 or 4 years with Xbox Generated ones so the gamertags become usable again, there are thousands of Xbox Accounts that have not been used in over 4 years that are just taking up gamertag options. So, please bring back 15 characters and if you are concerned about name options, remove/change the Gamertags on accounts that have not been touched in over 3 or 4 years. Problem solved. Thank you.

    Is there anyway to get rid of the 12 character Xbox one gamertag and keep the 15 character Xbox 360 one only?

    Once you change your gamertag within the 12 character policy, there is no way to remove it and go back to only the 15 characters.

    Update: If I try a gamertag with 14 or less characters, it seems to move forward. However the character limit is supposed to be 15 and the new gamertag I want has 15 characters. :-(

    Raise the character limit back to 15 or over.

    It is really not, now you have less posibilities with gamertags because it is 12 characters and so now everytime I think of an original gamertag its 1 or 2 or 3 characters too short, there are so many unoriginal gamertags now and I seriously need my old
    15 character gamertag back.

    Unfortunately there isn't much we can do about this. At least we have more characters than some of the other systems ;)

    Partially true. Gamertags can have up to 12 (or 13) characters, if they choose one that's already taken, then they will be assigned a suffix.

    "We’ve updated new Xbox gamertags to support a 12-character max, Unicode-based name of your choice, with an auto-generated suffix if the gamertag is shared. We now offer 13 different alphabets for gamers, which support more than 200 languages worldwide.
