Brand New (2 weeks) XBox One PC wireless dongle stopped working

I bought my Microsoft Xbox One Elite 2 controller about 2 months ago and could not get my PC to see it via bluetooth. Although this did not surprise me as my PC rarely sees anything I want it to see via BT. I figure at the price tag on this, and it was made
for wireless use I should be using that way.

A wireless controller that requires its own network adapter is sold without the adapter as a package is just ridiculous. $200+ for the controller and then to use it properly another $30 - I digress...

I purchased a Microsoft Xbox One Windows10 PC wireless adapter. I played games all night last night, this afternoon the adapter no longer lights up, pushing the button does nothing. Changing USB ports, nothing and in the device manager the network adapter
that was there is gone.

I am back to using an expensive wireless controller with a damn wire.

This is the nice new little USB stick too that does audio scratch did audio.

I have tried all I can think of and that got me hear for assistance.

Two weeks is just a terrible life span for this adapter.

It might the pins either within the usb or motherboard

Yes on both parts. My motherboard has 2 separate USB hubs and it does not work in either. As far as the PC is concerned I haven't plugged anything in. I also tried to use it on my other PC (Windows 10 Home x64) which also does not see the adapter. It use
to work on both of them. No updates to any software.

Only difference between desktop (ver 1909) and laptop (ver 1903), other than that same environment.

And I can't get the seller on eBay to respond to my inquiries.

This adapter is worthless now, too light to be a paperweight.

hi, have you tried to change the usb port or (even better) to try it with another PC?

Just to understand if it's a PC problem or a wireless adapter problem...

That wireless gaming receiver only works with 360 controllers, not Xbox One controllers. The Xbox one controller uses a different wireless protocol.

If you have Bluetooth for your PC you can pair the controller and use wireless this way. If you don't, you can buy any BT 4.0 USB dongle and connect using that. The dongles cost no more that $8.

Or you can buy the official Xbox One wireless receiver for Xbox One controllers.

Ahh, that explains it, thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't have Bluetooth inbuilt in my PC, but I can definitely buy a dongle. Does it need to be specifically a BT 4.0 dongle?
