Bought the xbox adaptive controller for my son

prior to me buying this controller today (10 April) I have not dug to deep into hacks with mods and all. I have gone down the list of compatible devices and didn't see much in the way of thumb stick inputs. I would like to keep this as straight forward as possible with little to know learning curve for him. Having said that, I have had a set up for him that I we 3D printed over the last few years running through an input device converter a XIM box to be exact. He plays with a controller in his left hand and a track ball for his right with foot pedals and all for buttons. We don't use any macros or anything, it has just been input device swap. Have tried joys sticks and all sorts of controllers but the track ball has been ideal for him. This has taken quite a long time for him to learn on this set up and is now able to play most if not every game. COD, Destiny , Forza, Fallout and even had a mortal combat phase (look like he was a drummer for five finger death punch while playing hilarious) but wow he is having fun and the joy this brings to him being able to play comfortably. With the recent issues with some of these devices and banning people from games I do not want him to fall victim of that and want him to be within the rules of online play and still enjoy playing with his friends on Xbox. SO, My question is we have him set up with the Kensington Expert trackball (like the size of a pool que ball) for right thumb sick inputs, will it work with the Adaptive controller or is there another track ball type device that will so it can take its place. The people using the devices are being banned by the games in question, Call of Duty for using them to cheat.

Unfortunately I cannot speak for how their system works, but I would suspect your concern is justified that those using them for legitimate purposes would not be able to be separated from the pack

Xbox does work with mice, assuming a game supports it, which many of the ones you mentioned to do, in theory it should work fine with the adaptive controller but I can't promise without having tried it myself

I would contact Activision support specifically to address the question there, is there currently the only company that has a system to ban these devices

Your son should be able to make use of the Xbox One adaptive controller. Plus there are number of additional peripherals that can be added to it.

Sorry to hear about the headset troubles! Does your son have the chatpad adapter in between the headset and controller or is he plugging directly into the controller? If there's an adapter in between in may be worth trying the headset with a controller that
doesn't need the adapter, or test a different adapter.

Hello sc1_589, sorry to hear your son is having trouble with the controller.

I've not hear of a controller set up with the buttons on the left side specifically. If there are some out there they were more than likely special made.
