Bought Minecraft under my account, can't play full game on son's account

Hello there, thanks for coming here with your question! To reiterate, you have made purchases on your account with the intention to have your son play them from a completely separate account.

So far, so good: you logged in so that the base game itself can be available on that device. The unfortunate news is that while base games are shareable when conditions are met, DLC (the add-on packs you have purchased) are not shareable. Each individual user needs to purchase the DLC they want to play with for their own account in order to have access to that DLC as well. That is the case when sharing games on an Xbox console as well--the base game is shareable by logging into another Xbox console, but the DLC is not shareable.

As an aside, Xbox games on Windows 10 are handled differently than standard programs one installs for all users (I remember having to choose that too, hats off to you).

So, solutions:

1. Refund yourself the DLC packs

Visit the following page and submit for the refunds from your account: Request a refund for digital games | Xbox Support

2. Take a look at Microsoft Family (not to be confused with Microsoft 365 Family *sweats bullets*)

Visit the Microsoft Family Safety section that is definitely already available for your, no set-up needed: Microsoft Family Safety (will require log-in from your account). 3. Add your son's account as a "Member", and give his account allowances

Reminder that you should do this from your account. I cannot stress this enough--nothing is worse than accidentally setting up your son's account as the "Organizer" (codeword for Parent).

Your son won't be able to go over his allowance, and your card information is never exposed to them.

I ended up selecting the first option as it seemed much less complicated and less likely to create headaches down the line than trying to force something different.

When installing using his account everything was seamless and without issue so now I know going forward

It really shouldn't be this complicated but now that I understand I can avoid this issue going forward.

My wife and I have the family pack. her account is the primary account. I bought and downloaded minecraft on her profile. My son just got his own xbox. I downloaded her profile and game to his xbox but it wont let him play under his gamertag. All three
gamertags are under the family pack. Is there a way to get him to be able to play minecraft on either xbox under his gamertag?

I am here with my son, i bought minecraft for him under my account. now every time my sons tries to log into any xbox game it does not allow him to log in under his account. that does not help him when he's trying to get in servers, get achievements etc.
