Bought a second Xbox for my two kids and one user can only play on one console. How can I fix?

I purchased a second Xbox console for my two boys at our house. My first son is logged in and where our xbox live gold account is located. On the second new xbox we logged him in there as the “my home” user so games would transfer.

On the new xbox, they both can play games and all works fine. On the old xbox, only my first son can log in and play fortnite. When my second son tries to log in on the old xbox, it says he needs a live gold account. Very confusing since he is able to play
    on the new device.

I have a family plan set up and we are on the same network, i don’t understand why my second son is limited in playing location? How can i fix? This seems so simple for Microsoft.

    Thanks!

    :)

The Home setting is what allows an account to share gold and games. The 2nd son would need to use the Home console on order to play online. The 1st son can sign in and play on any console since he has the gold attached to hos account. You can only set
1 console as your Home at a time.

Sharing Xbox Live Gold membership - A similar but different question - please read

    Only possible scenario:

One Xbox must be set as your home box. On that console, any other account can share your games and subscriptions. On the other two consoles only your account can have live, so you must log in with your account on both other consoles. But subscription can't
be shared with other accounts logged in on those consoles. You can have only one home box console. And you can play only one game at the same time on any of the consoles. The only solution is to buy a second Live for your kids to share on the second
console. In that case One of their accounts must be set as a home box. And third is Live for every box with its own account.

Thank you for your kindness and I hope I was gentle. My greetings to the big Xbox family!

    Family/Home Gold Account Complicated Question

I'll try my best to clear up any cofusion and keep this post as short as I can

How the 360 will work: Every account needs it's own subscription to play on any 360.

How the One will work: Only the primary account on each console needs a subscription

Some examples I came up with:

Q: I have four accounts and one Xbox One how can I play online with all of my accounts?

A:You'll only need one subscription on the primary account the other 3 can play on that console for free.

Q: I have four accounts and two Xbox Ones how can I play online with all my accounts on both Xbox Ones?

A: You'll need two subscriptions one for each primary account the other two will be able to play on both console for free.

Xbox Live Gold won't share to second console

I have made one console the home box...I have the second completely set up. But....it won't allow live? ...

    Very frustrated Momma
Is it possible that you bought Xbox Live on your parent account, and your two kids have their own accounts?

Be aware, that your account can only share to ONE home console at any given time, and you can only change the sharing to a specific console five times within a year! So be careful when you try switching around the Home Console!

I'll assume that you bought Xbox Live Gold on your own "mom-account". With two consoles, this will only work if you set one console as your Home Console, and are actually signed in together with your second kid on the second console.

    Ideally, I'd recommend the following:

Have Son #1 buy a Gold membership after you cancelled the Gold membership on your "mom-account". Then have Son#1 set console#2 as their Home Console, so the Gold membership is shared to Console#2. Now everyone on console#2 can play online multiplayer.

Son#1 can go to any other console and also play online multiplayer, as he has the Gold membership tied to his own account, which roams to whatever console they go to.

Also have one son buy the games that both kids should be able to play, as the same sharing rules apply: You with your mom-account can only share to one console at the same time.

When son#1 buys a game, the ownership of the game will roam with son#1 to whatever console they sign in, while his games are shared to his Home console that son#2 uses.

    Home X Box designation Issues

First of all, you need to know that any account can only have ONE Home Console. So for example, if you are the parent of two kids, each with their own console, only one kid can have your "Home Console" unlock your games for that kid. The other kid needs
to have your account signed in on a second controller to be able to play your games.

Or to make matters a bit easier: Allow ONE kid to purchase the games BOTH kids are supposed to play. For example let your daughter buy the games for both kids, and let the daughter set the son's console as her Home Console and vice versa. While being online,
the daughter can unlock her own games simply by being online, and the daughter's Home Console setting on your son's console will unlock the game for your son.

You can only set ONE console as the Home Console, and the other kid has to sign your account in on a second controller to be able to play your games.

As for resetting the Home Console setting count, you'll need to contact the official support at
