borderlands 2 ‘not signed in’ cant load progress from before gamer tag change

okay so my son decided he wanted to change the gamertag name. he had been playing xbox 360 borderlands 2 on the xbox one.

once he changed his name, when he tries to log on, it jusf says ‘not signed in’ to xbox live.

im assuming its becsuse he changed his name. but how can he get his progress back?

He has to open up the xbox 360 menu and , Download profile‘ again because he changed his Gamertag. After you donwload youre profile again it should work! Let me know

it can recover saved data by subscribing to xbox live this in my case had managed to synchronize my data so I'm not sure

Sorry for the late reply. I signed in about 2 or 4 hours ago and Borderlands 2 loaded up without disconnecting, didn't actually play anything though. I tried again before I read this and it disconnected me while loading up, I did a network test from the
dashboard and it connected to live. So about a minute ago I tried Borderlands 2 and I made it past the loading screen. So far good, thanks guys

Also, i cant delete the gamer tag that is on THIS email adress if that makes a difference. Ideally id just delete this xbox live gamer tag and then change the email from my real account to this email. but I also cant find a way to delete a gamer tag/xbox
live account

Can you sign in with both gamer tags. Let the maps load and then sign out of the non gold gamer tag. Not 100% sure if this will work.
