BluRay app freezing up with DVD play

Go to Settings > Disk and Blu-ray > Blu-ray > persistent storage > clear persistent storage. If this doesn't work, let's try clearing the cache:

1. With the console turned on, press and hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until you hear a small sound.

2. Wait 10 seconds.

3. Turn it back on.

I tried both of these and it didn't work.

I don't understand why the Xbox one S can play a dvd yesterday and not today.

I’m still having issues playing bluray movies. No problem with games, dvds and even 3d blurays.

it doesn’t pop an error code up... just says “NO DISC” when i launch the bluray app.

No region 4 DVD can't be played in EU devices

Did yoi download the bluray app?

Also enable auto start disc in the app options so when you do stick a disc in it starts

Even ps4 you had to download the app

Off the shelf dvd players dont have any other functiom but to play dvds

You gotta remember not all discs are bluray or dvd

Some can be mixed media or a bluray live disc (usually your xtras disc )
