    Blu Ray Player update has broken DVD playback in 50hz region 2 DVD's


    Today I got an update for blu ray player.

    Problem is that it has totally broken region 2 DVD playback.

    The console switches to 50hz mode like it is supposed to but the picture blanks out every couple of seconds.

    The only way to get the DVD to work is to disable 50hz mode.

    The problem is not a hand shaking issue with the tv though because when I go to the homescreen only the blu ray player windows blanks out while the rest of the screen is displayed normally.

    I would check out the Xbox page for Blu-ray playback regarding regions. But yes, your Xbox One can certainly play DVD and Blu-ray movies.

    False alarm

    Just rebooted my console and now the 50hz mode is working fine.

    If anyone else gets blanking after just updating the blu ray app just fully shutdown the console then reboot

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    You seem to have taken this a little too personally Listed.

    Besides you seem to have misunderstood the subject. The OP is not complaining that blu-ray playback is better than that of DVD. Rather that the One's DVD playback ability is not as good as standalone blu-ray players.

    XB1 is region free right?

    The games are region free. The optical drives follow DVD and Blu-ray region standards with respect to movie playback.

    Ok just to update you guys.

    My uk xbox wont play usa standard def region 1 dvds

    It will also not play usa blu ray region A dvds

    It will play region free blu rays and region B blu rays and region 2 standard def dvds.

    So its basically same as a normal uk blu ray player.

    I thought there was a rumour that the x1 was region free blu ray. Unless it means the games are region free and playable on any x1

    Either way im happy coz ill only be using it as a games console

    Any updates on this issue? I don't typically use my xbox for DVD playback, but my DVD player has been acting up so I started using my xbox to play DVD and blu rays these black bars are annoying and I don't see any options within the app to adjust.
