    Blu ray / dvd black screen


    Good evening guys,

    Recently got a series X , really enjoying it for the most part. Not enjoying being unable to play movies.

    I think the disc drive is functioning because it read a 360 disc fine. The app for the Blu-ray seems to be the problem.

    I tried the work around Microsoft suggested in addition to uninstalling the Blue ray app and reinstalling but no luck there either. I hope Microsoft comes out with a patch soon , but it’s kind of lame they couldn’t get this selling point feature functioning
    smoothly out of the box.

    Has anyone else encountered these issues ?

    Will Microsoft release a patch for the Blu ray app any time soon?

    DVD won't play on Xbox One

    No error code, the screen just stays black. Every other dvd or blu-ray that I have works just fine.

    Ive had exactly the same thing tonight, tried watching a blu ray and i got the black screen... dvd works fine... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    DVD won't play on Xbox One

    I'm also seeing the same problem. Blu-Rays and other DVDs play fine but the LotR DVDs show a black screen and then a "Blu Ray player failed to start" error message. No error code was displayed. I powered the X Box 1 off and back on and no change. The
    box went through an update earlier today so it should have the latest software.

    Problem reading discs

    Hi Jasmine, changed to eco and games would play but no dvd's, done a soft factory reset, uninstalled and re-installed blu ray app, it played one dvd then back to same problem screen flashes between disc and black screen then press any button and the screen
    goes black and only exit is to eject dvd and it goes back to home page, games work fine

    Blu Ray Player will not read movies

    Having the same issue no DVD movie or Blu-ray movie will work in Xbox one, I get black screen with message please insert disc. The same discs work fine in my regular DVD player and the DVD works without an issue on my Xbox 360 but not on the xbox one
