Blocking Microsoft subscriptions on PayPal

Me being a smart cookie cannot access the account associated with my Xbox subscription anymore.

So I blocked Microsoft from being able to bill my PayPal account.
Will this cancel my subscription since the payment would have failed?

usually if they cannot get payment it lapses and then they cancel this mean you then owse them for any time past the expiry and they can ban or even close the account if not paid for. seen it happen. you need to contact support to make sure auto renew is off and to then sort access to your account.

well yes as you owe them money, same can be said for anything you purchase be it a service or a material item. if payment is not made then they can.

luckily they don't go to court or debt collectors for a trivial amount but if they wanted to they could. it is up to the account holder to keep there account up to date that includes security and valid up to date email address.

they are a business in the end, the main objective is to make money, as you did not disable auto renew the service carries on, if they then don't get payment after a few tries you then owe.

Seriously? So if I have a subscription past due and never pay it they can ban and close my account for just that reason?

If you have blocked Microsoft from being able to charge you through your PayPal account, there should be no payment interment on your account. This means that there will be no charges. However, I highly advise you to contact our live support agent. They can check your account from their end and cancel your subscription.
