Blocked old Microsoft account and strange activity.

Sadly, I am not able to change the password - the only choice I got is give Microsoft my telephone number to send me a code. As I said however, I definitely did not ask ANY department or school for a work/school account, nor did any suspicious activity. The only email I have received is from 2017 asking me for a verification code upon registration. I did NOT obtain any emails about joining an IT or warnings. That's why I do not understand how could this happen.

if you have logged into the microsoft account then it has not been stolen, i would just change the password on the account and then if you choose to, close the account under microsoft account site.

I'll answer my own question.

For some strange reason the accounts had been blocked.

I logged into microsoft using the child's login details and followed the steps to unblock the account.

Didn't think of this previously as when I logged in under my account, their accounts didn't show as blocked or that anything was wrong.

I understand you need help backwards compatible game issues.

Please try these steps:

1. Launch a Backwards Compatible title on your console.

2. Press the Start and Back (View and Menu) buttons at the same time.

3. Select Manage Storage (you will get a warning that you are leaving the game)

4. Select Profiles and find your gamertag and delete it.

5. Press B to back out of the screen and then press the View and Menu again to bring up the menu

6. Select Sign In or press X on the controller

7. Select Download Profile to redownload your profile to the console

If that does not work, do this:

Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.

On the Manage storage devices screen, select:

Clear local Xbox 360 storage. This deletes Xbox 360 games saved locally, but they’ll remain in the cloud.

If that does not work, please do this:

Let's refresh the console's system cache.

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select System.

4. Select Console info

5. Select Reset console.

6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.
