it has to be purchased on the account that needs it as there is no codes and it applies it to the account making the purchase. you can contact support to try and get a refund or you can sign into the xbox with your account and make the console your home console that way all other people using that console can use gold and gamepass games.

If you are already a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, then any Gold codes you redeem will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate. If you are not an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscriber, then no, the Gold codes should not convert to Game Pass Ultimate.

Usually that will only happen if you are adding a standard Gold or Game Pass code to a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. So you may want to double check the code that you purchased to make sure it was definitely Game Pass Ultimate and not standard Gold/Game
Pass.
